"Hello," by Adele

  Hello, it’s me… Haylee COMING AT YOU WITH ONE OF THE LAST POSTS WHOOO! To wrap us up, I decided to show off the song that really introduced me to one of my favorite artists, “Hello” by Adele. Holy crap, can you believe it has been six years since it was released? SIX YEARS?! This is a song I can remember singing in the car and talking about with all my friends. It is such a dramatic song, I love it. It gives serious movie vibes and is one of the real causes as to why I have been such a main character since I was young. Also, this song is one of the first that I can remember becoming a “meme.” This was when I started getting introduced to the internet and seeing it everywhere kept me invested.

I love thinking of her song as a voicemail. Each “hello” signifies a new voicemail, a new scenario. Her lyrics “but when I call you never seem to be home” just go to show. She says “hello from the other side” of the phone my guy. Can you guys tell that I am so glad to almost be done with this blog? I feel like I just spend these blogs rambling, I mean most of the time I do them I’m sleep deprived and probably just spent three + hours doing homework. It is a good song though, one of the first ones to already be on my playlist before this class. 

Anyways, I hope you readers have a great finals week and an even better winter break. If you need comment ideas, tell me about your favorite song so I can add some good ones to my playlists. I need some new music and I only got a few good ones out of this class.

    First off 6 years INSANE! It feels like this just came out now I feel old lol. But I like how you talked about a voicemail for each time she says Hello, that makes a lot of sense. I never thought of it like that but that is super cool. I too am excited to be done with these blogs. Super good job though:)

    Wow! I never thought about each "hello" being a new voicemail, totally changes the song for me. What a great observation! My current favorite song is "Stress Relief" by Late Night Drive Home, if you like indie pop you might like it :)

    I seriously can't believe that "Hello" came out six years ago! Where did the time go? It feels like it was just playing on the radio yesterday. I think it is interesting what you had to say about it being a voicemail because you can totally see that it could be the case because of the lyrics.

"Barbary Allen," by Jean Ritchie

For the first ever blog post, I knew I had to do "Barbary Allen" by Jean Ritchie. While reading through the lyrics, I found there is a very good storyline to follow. I believe that is why I like it so much. In this song, William Green is in love with Barbary Allen. However, Barbary believes that they will never be together and lets him die. Then, in a moment of realization after he’s gone, she feels almost guilty. I can almost relate to her in a way. I have had a guy interested in me before and I felt bad letting him down. He didn’t die, but it honestly seemed like a little part of him did.             I also really love the sound of the song, surprisingly enough. Even though there is no music, it has a very distinctive tune. I couldn’t see myself listening to this everyday for fun, but every now and then it’ll be a good one to bring up. "Taylor, Adele, & Silk Sonic's broken hearts club" Switched on Pop

     I decided to go for some extra credit and reflect on some Switched on Pop. An episode from last week titled Taylor, Adele, & Silk Sonic’s broken hearts club. I found myself enjoying it more than I thought I would. This episode is narrated by musicologist Nate Sloan, songwriter Charlie Harding, and guest Brittany Luse. The first sentence in the description literally says, “This week we are having a blast feeling really sad.” and honestly? Same. Finals are going to literally kill me. This drew me into to episode and got me interested.      This episode starts off with an ad. As usual. Besides that, we get to kick off with some Taylor Swift. The main focus on her was her recently rerecorded and released album Red . Brittany explains that she listened up on Taylor before they recorded and she had some interesting notes.
