"Psycho Killer," by Talking Heads

  Annddddd it looks like we’re up for another song of the week! I wasn’t too familiar with many of the songs in this chapter, so I chose one that I thought looked fun. I’m also in a silly mood (we may or may not have just flipped all of our neighbors furniture because they left their door open…). So I chose the song “Psycho Killer,” by Talking Heads!! I figured it would be an interesting one, and it definitely was! Right off the bat I knew I recognized the bass line, and turns out Selena Gomez sampled it in her song “Bad Liar.” I thought that was interesting. 

Another thing that I found super cool about this song it that some of the words are French! Did I google translate them to understand what was actually being said? That is for me to know and for you readers to maybe never find out… Ha! It translates to, “What is that… What I did that night, What she said that evening, Realizing my hope, I launch myself towards the glory.” I think the song is pretty cool, and it was easy to listen to while working. Yet I don’t think I completely understand what was happening. It was a super fun song though!


Psa: I definitely recommend flipping your neighbors furniture. Worth it.

    Hey Haylee, I just wanted to say I appreciated your comment on my post. However, I don’t understand why or what that has to do with music. I also don’t appreciate you flipping your neighbors couches that was not very G-Money of you…. However I do like your song choice. Reminds me of you😊 Great post and have a nice night and life!

    Psycho Killer is definitely a good one. It's a different style from what I usually listen to, but it's oddly catchy. Also I still want to hear more about this furniture flipping, I'm looking to do it to my neighbors and I need some tips. Was it planned or spontaneous? Did it take long? I gotta know.

      Girllll it was so fun, it took us 20 minutes and it was most definitely spontaneous! Do it 10/10 recommend!

      Oh yeah! I cut my hair and went to show them, but the door was open and nobody was there! So we started flipping stuff and the longer they were gone, the more we flipped! Do it Do it Do it Do it!! It was epic lol

    I think that it is interesting that the lyrics are in french. It helped me that you had some of them translated in your post. I also think that it is cool that Selena Gomez sampled the bass line in her song. I think that this song has a good beat that helps contribute to its fame.

"Barbary Allen," by Jean Ritchie

For the first ever blog post, I knew I had to do "Barbary Allen" by Jean Ritchie. While reading through the lyrics, I found there is a very good storyline to follow. I believe that is why I like it so much. In this song, William Green is in love with Barbary Allen. However, Barbary believes that they will never be together and lets him die. Then, in a moment of realization after he’s gone, she feels almost guilty. I can almost relate to her in a way. I have had a guy interested in me before and I felt bad letting him down. He didn’t die, but it honestly seemed like a little part of him did.             I also really love the sound of the song, surprisingly enough. Even though there is no music, it has a very distinctive tune. I couldn’t see myself listening to this everyday for fun, but every now and then it’ll be a good one to bring up. "Taylor, Adele, & Silk Sonic's broken hearts club" Switched on Pop

     I decided to go for some extra credit and reflect on some Switched on Pop. An episode from last week titled Taylor, Adele, & Silk Sonic’s broken hearts club. I found myself enjoying it more than I thought I would. This episode is narrated by musicologist Nate Sloan, songwriter Charlie Harding, and guest Brittany Luse. The first sentence in the description literally says, “This week we are having a blast feeling really sad.” and honestly? Same. Finals are going to literally kill me. This drew me into to episode and got me interested.      This episode starts off with an ad. As usual. Besides that, we get to kick off with some Taylor Swift.
