"You Can't Hurry Love," by The Supremes

Ahhh!! I’m so excited that we are finally getting into the good songs. Not that the ones before weren’t good, but no offense to Jean Ritchie, my ears have had better days after “Barbary Allen.” This week’s song is “You Can’t Hurry Love,” by The Supremes. I think this is such a cute song! Listening to this song makes me tap my feet without even realizing! Now that we are getting more into a time of overlapping music, there are so many more layers in each song. I love listening to one specific part of the song every time I listen, like the bass, then the tambourine, and the background voices. So good!

I also really like the words for this song. I feel like the music and the words fit so well together, and the voices singing are perfect. This is the type of song that will play during a movie and in a way it reminds me of the movie Grease. I could see little ole’ Sandy listening to this song in her room. I really like the vibes I get from this song and I’m so excited to hear more like it in this unit.

  1. Honestly same! I am so glad that we are finally getting to songs that I like and have heard before lol! I really like this song because of how the instruments are playing with the singer as she sings. It’s definitely a light-hearted song and it’s just upbeat and so fun! Great job!
